For the past couple of months, Yahoo! shut down its applications one by one. Last friday they announced that Yahoo! Site Explorer will no longer be available from 21 November 2011.
Yahoo Site Explorer:
Yahoo! Site Explorer is a great tool for the webmasters where it helps to promote their websites, to track the backlinks, to know the number of pages indexed, etc. Mostly, it is used to analyse the backlinks of a website easily than to find in Google, as Google don’t show the entire backlinks due to privacy issues. It’s a great disappointment for all webmasters when the closure of Yahoo! Site Explorer was announced.
Let’s see below what did Yahoo! described about this closure notification in its blog:
With the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing, Yahoo! Search has merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!. Site Explorer services will not be available from November 21, 2011. Bing Webmaster Tools has much of this information, with the big exception of competitive linkage data, which is a huge exception.
